Cookie Exchange Paper Bag Book

I finished the cookie exchange book finally. I just have to print out the names of the contributors to paste on each recipe shared. I left a spot for this since I can't decide if I'd like it handwritten or printed? What do you think?
I used some die cuts of snowflakes and mittens throughout. I added a lot of stickles glitter. (It doesn't show up very well in these pics.) I also shimmer sprayed everything. It's a very cute book and I love it. I was going to give it away, but decided I will have to make another since I can't bear to part with it now.

 I used blues, reds, ......

greens, beige,  ....

 turquoise, and pinks.....
It all flows together really well since those are the colors in the patterned paper I used. If you are interested in the instructions just email me. I also have a file with the recipes, though you may wish to use your own.
This can be used for lots of other recipes as well. I was thinking of putting together a BBQ/Summer one....maybe not just yet....too cold.....anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback you may have so leave a comment or send me an email. Thanks for stopping by again. Until next time.....

Fa la la la la....

I am just about finished decking my halls with boughs of holly....and I wanted to share a few more pics with you. I am hoping to get some last minute stamping and crafting in before next week now that the decorating has been checked off the "List." I was able to find a small garland in my stash of Christmas stuff to decorate for the kitchen window. I loved the candy theme a lot so I will probably expand on this next year but for now this is what I have come up with.....
I like to add a little bit of Christmas to my garden window as well so I re-arranged the plants and such and added a few Christmas touches.
On the bottom is the Christmas Cactus Joel's grandmother gave me a clipping from years ago....maybe 10 years? Anyway, I just love it but until last year I couldn't get it to bloom. This year will be the second year it will bloom and has pink buds all over. Yay! I am so happy! Ok, so enough of my green thumb....
This is the left side of the window. I placed pictures of my girls in the window because I hate to do dishes and thought It would make it easier to do if I saw their smiling faces. :o) Here's the right side....

Just a few Christmasy things intermixed with my regular display of things.....

As you can see, the mini tree looks great next to the sink and window too. Maybe doing dishes will be a bit more cheerful...at least till the end of the month......

Snowman Wall Hanger

I made this adorable wall hanging after seeing one like it on Stampin Connection, Stampin'Up's! Demonstrator website. I am sorry, but I copied the pic but forgot where I found it. I will have to look for the demo again and give her credit.
It's difficult to get a closer picture because it is so long, but I'll post some individual pics too....

I just love how cute this little snowman is peeking thru the letters! It was very simple to make. I used the Big Shot to cut out the scalloped squares in Whisper White. Then I ran them thru again using the Snow Frost Texture plate. I adhered them to Chipboard cut out in the same square shapes with Momo Glue. It is much stronger than the tape runner and will fit in the scallops easier. The letters were also cut using the 2" letter dies using Almost Artichoke cardstock. The cute little snowman came from the Jolly ol' Saint Nick stamp set in the Holiday mini catalog. I stamped 4 of them in black and colored his hat, scarf, and gloves in Real Red, then cut them out. Once cut out, he was placed behind each letter till I found a good position for him, then I trimmed off the excess. After gluing the letters down, I attached a Real Red/Very Vanilla stripe ribbon to the backside, spacing each square about an inch apart. I finished the top with a strip of Cherry Cobbler ribbon and wrapped a jeweled brad around the bottom piece of ribbon. Once it was all done, I used the shimmer spray to make it all sparkley....you know I love sparkley!
I think this is a great project for any occasion. You could even make a name banner for your kids room.
Please let me know if you are interested in making one of these in the new year. Happy Decorating!

Deck the Halls....

I worked a bit on finishing some of my decorating projects today. The first thing was the kitchen candy themed tree. I added some ornaments, candy, beads, and snowflakes.....
I like how it turned out and am working on a garland for the garden window over the sink. What do you think? Then I worked on the wreath hanging over the fireplace. It change every year to match the tree decor. I found some stuff that I didn't use on the tree itself and tried to purdy it up. Here it is. I think it will work.

I used the red silk hydrangeas on the tree as well. They are my favorite. Looking forward to posting more pics tomorrow. Hope you are enjoying decorating with me....

Christmas Decorating

So, I thought I would share with you a few pictures of my Christmas decorations. I still have a bit more to put up to complete it, but I have a pretty good start. Here's my tree...

...I like to change it up every year but I stuck with a more traditional look this year. I used turquoise and browns last year. We have a bunch of ornaments that we have gathered over the years and I am able to separate out certain ones to create a theme on each of my small trees. Here's a snowman tree....

I actually forgot to put the lights on this little one so I may have to take it apart and re-do it in order to put the lights on it. I haven't decided. I just love, no.....LOVE snowmen! I have collected them for years and I just think they are soooo cute! I have more but they are not all out yet. More pics to follow on these guys.
Here's the begining of my kithchen decorating. I'm going for a "candy" theme here. It's very festive! I can't wait till it's all done so I can share some more pics!

Oh! And I just had to share a picture of this adorable word art that I purchased off my friend Jen's Etsy shop. You can find it here http://www.etsy.com/shop/createdbyjen. She does word art among many other things and is so creative! You may have seen the one I posted earlier from the night she showed the Crazy Ladies how to make them. I just loved the snowglobe....don't you?

I hope you enjoyed my pics. Check back to see more in a day or so...."Jingle Bells....Jingle Bells....."

Crazy Ladies Cookie Exchange and Craft Night

I guess it's been awhile since I posted and I thought I'd share a few things with my friends out there in Blog World....

Monday night was our monthly craft night and we had a cookie exchange as well as a craft. I have only been to a couple of these before so I am not familiar with all the ins and outs of a cookie exchange, but I think it went over well. We had 6 ladies to trade cookies with and everyone was to bring 1 doz. cookies per each person so that was a total of 6 doz. cookies. Several of us decided to make more than one kind while a few just stuck to the plan and made one kind. I had everyone send me the recipes so I could format and print them out and then we put together paper bag books with all the recipes. I am still finishing mine up, but I wanted to share a pre-view with you all so here it is.....

This is just the outside. I still need to make a title and do some more embellishing but I think it's a good start, don't you?
Here's a shot of the first pages. I did a bit of embellishing and I will be adding the name of the contributor to the page as well. On the side you can see the pocket with the pull out tags....

And here's a shot of the first pull out tag. I think I am really going to like this when it's done. These would make great gifts too.....I wonder who would want one of these????? Any ideas?
I must say, I love my friends and spending time with them like this. It was truly a blessed time. Thanks gals!

Birthday Musings....

Last Friday was my birthday and my mom and family treated me to a wonderful day. I went to pick my mom up because she was taking me to lunch at Bobo's....my favorite Vietnamese restaurant, and this is what was waiting for me. A wonderful gift basket filled with goodies. We were looking at the latest Martha Stewart Magazine and saw a cake plate towered with red and white Christmas candy.  I commented on how I would like to do that, and she went out and found every red and white candy she could find to fill this basket. There were a few goodies that wouldn't fit in the basket as well. But don't you think this is a fantastic basket? My mom has a talent for making great baskets.
So, after lunch.....and dinner, I went home and played with all the goodies in the basket and put this together...

What do you think? Isn't it fun? I am hoping to share it with some of my guests for the Holiday Open House in a week or so. I hope it will last that long....

Crazy Ladies Nov. Craft Night

Our once a month craft group met on Monday night for some Christmas Ornament crafting fun. Paula hosted this month and her parents were visiting from out of town so I was able to meet her mom. What a nice gal...just as lovely as Paula....guess that is where she got her wonderfulness.  Jen and I were the only other two from the regular group to make it this time since it was so close to Thanksgiving Day, and we had a blast. Paula made these years ago and decided to teach us how to make them....check out how stinking cute they are.....

This cute little angel isn't supposed to be bald, but I didn't find the hair or yarn for it yet. They are made from paper bags, cut out, painted and embellished. We added wire hanger and there you are....cute handmade ornament for decorating or giving.
If you look closely you can see the adorable cookie cutter shapes used to embellish the gingerbread cookie man. So adorable!
Last but not least, this adorable snowman! Isn't he cute!!! I can hardly believe I made him. I didn't get pics of the other ones made last night, but they were all soooo cute! Thanks to Paula for hosting a fun and festive evening.

It fits perfectly in the box and the box has a window on top so you can see the cute ribbon flower on the top. Contact me for more details and information. I would love to show you how to make one of your own. Schedule a class with me!

Boxes, Bags, & Tags Class

These are some of the projects I was going to teach at my class Sat., Nov. 20, 2010.  Aren't they cute?

This is a little box that can hold several different items, I made this one to hold my irish cream truffles. It also holds Christmas tags. I will wrap it with a ribbon and put an embellishment on top to complete it.

These box bags are ideal for all kinds of gifts. Quick and easy to make and adorable coverings for those Birthday or Christmas gifts.

Tags and bags anyone? The SU Tags til' Christmas stamp set makes oodles of tags in minutes and the box or bag are perfect holders. These make perfect gifts for the upcoming season.  If you are interested in making any of these projects please contact me and we can schedule the next class!

Stamp-A-Stack #2 Continued....

Ok, I'm back! Here are the other cards we made on friday for the #2 Stamp-a-Stack. This one is my favorite! I saw this snowman and had to use him because he is sooooo cute. The cool thing is that he fits inside a standard envelope so no special envelopes are needed! The background snowflakes are embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder and dotted with Stickle glitter glue. The snowflakes are a Big Shot die called Norther Frost that is in the SU Holiday Mini Catalog. "Snowy" is glittered up and all of it is sprayed with a shimmer mist. My kids think it looks like a baby card, but I think it has that "Vintage " look.

The Embossed Skater Card was fun to make. I saw the oval embossing technique online and my upline told me how to make it. You cut out an oval from a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card using chipboard and keep the outside frame. When you run the Poinsettia texture plate thru the big shot you place the oval frame on the outside and magically the oval remains flat! You can't see it but this card shimmers too! Love the shimmer spray...so soft...sooooo sparkly.
The Sparkly Snowflake was my final card. I needed one last card to share and so I sat down to create something and this card was born....or created....you get the point. The snowflakes are stamped in Gold embossing ink but not embossed. You can emboss and add even more sparkle. Then I gold Stickled the centers. I used Gold Lame Smooch to do the tips of the Snowflake die on the ribbon along with stickles. This card sparkles. I just love it and so did my friends.  These projects were fun to make and you can make them too! I have one more class coming up for the cards and can offer them as a project kit for $15 (tax & shipping if mailing).  Hope you enjoyed these cards as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you!

Christmas Stamp-a-Stack #2

Friday night was my second of 3 Christmas Stamp-a-Stack classes I am hosting. It was a fun group of ladies, some ol' friends and some new. We made 10 more cards (5 designs, 2 of each) and made sure they were all sparkly! I am all about the sparkles. I am sorry that my pictures don't show the beauty of the shimmer and sparkle. I will be working on my camera and lighting skills. Here are the lovely creations that the ladies made:
Santa's Suit....I have seen other Santa cards but I wanted his shirt to open so I designed it so the belt was held down by the mitten on the right hand side. He's all sparkly with glitter and shimmer spray but it's difficult to see. His inside looks like this...
I thought about making the inside his t-shirt or long johns but didn't have time to work that out so I used the Top Note die and I think it works.
I borrowed this card from my upline and have seen it on the Stampin'Up! demonstrator website. Very simple and elegant. I used red Stickles and shimmer spray to make it sparkly.
Well, I am having a problem posting all of the pictures so I will have to try again later. If you can't wait till then you can view the rest of them on my friend Cathy's blog http://scrappincatscreativeendeavors.blogspot.com/ She has lots of other fun stuff on there that she has created.
See ya later!
